Cornerstone Park is being restored into a thriving, multi-sport community hub serving families, athletes, and local organizations.

In 2024, Cornerstone Assembly and Calvary Assembly inherited a ballpark that had been abandoned and overrun—fields unkempt, infields missing, dugouts neglected, and lights destroyed by Hurricane Helene. From day one, we believed restoration was possible.

When we were asked in February to host the competitive division of a spring church league with just five weeks to prepare, volunteers stepped up. By God’s grace, Field One was ready for play. That momentum launched The Players League, a year-round adult softball league centered on players. Today, all three adult fields are playable.

Where We Are Now

  • Slow-pitch adult softball three nights per week through The Players League

  • Monthly tournaments already underway

  • A local youth sports organization uses the park for flag football two nights per week

  • Significant expansion planned once Field Four lighting is restored

The Future of Cornerstone Park

  • We are raising funds to continue restoring and expanding the park with long-term, community-focused improvements:

    • Restore lighting on Field One

    • Upgrade Field Four to LED lighting

    • Build permanent restrooms

    • Expand parking with solar lighting

    • Add amenities including:

      • Playground

      • Beach volleyball courts

      • Walking trails

      • 18-hole disc golf course

Growth Plan

Phase One (Completed)
Reopened the park, restored two fields, launched The Players League.

Phase Two (By 2026)
Field Four LED lighting, permanent restrooms, solar parking lighting, expanded parking.

Phase Three (By 2027)
Playground, beach volleyball courts, walking track, disc golf course.

Phase Four (By 2030)
Pavilion, pickleball courts, shade structures, Field Three lighting.

Phase Five (By 2030)
Gymnasium and expanded recreational options.
